GitHub Copilot Promotion Irony

My total comp for creating GitHub Copilot, from inception to GA: +20k bonus and a title bump. Join a startup. Oh I forgot: The VP who worked most against Copilot’s creation, would later tell me I didn’t deserve the promo. That person is now in charge of GitHub Copilot. i got about 20k for my work on react too!

A Twitter thread jokes about an engineer receiving only a $20,000 bonus and a title bump for creating GitHub Copilot. The punchline is that the VP who allegedly opposed Copilot’s creation later became responsible for it, while another developer adds a comparison to being paid about $20,000 for React. The meme is used as a sarcastic reaction to unfair compensation, corporate irony, and undervaluing major technical contributions.
