Catfish Girlfriend Anniversary

Text on the meme

ME LISTENING TO MY FRIEND TALK ABOUT HOW EXCITED HE IS TO MEET HIS BELOVED ONLINE GIRLFRIEND IN PERSON FOR THEIR 7 YEAR ANNIVERSARY (SHE'S ACTUALLY A CATFISH ACCOUNT MADE BY ME)

What it means

Two men sit together in a dimly lit club while one listens with a knowing, increasingly amused expression. The joke is that the excited friend is planning to meet his beloved online girlfriend for their seven-year anniversary, but the listener secretly created the catfish account himself. Dexys Midnight Runners’ upbeat folk-rock song “Come On Eileen” makes the deception feel even more gleeful and mischievous, fitting the clip as a reaction to secretly orchestrating someone else’s romantic delusion.
