Turning Emo for Attention

Text on the meme

me turning emo when my friends dont notice me for 0.1 seconds

What it means

A fast, melodramatic montage shows someone instantly transforming into an emo persona whenever his friends fail to notice him for a split second. The exaggerated hair, makeup, lip piercing, gloomy poses, and friends’ confused reactions make the joke about being comically attention-seeking. Mac DeMarco’s mellow indie rock song “My Kind of Woman” plays over the chaotic transformation, making the reaction feel mock-serious and theatrically emotional.
