My 5 year old got a splinter while playing outside I gently removed it with a pair of tweezers A few weeks later she received a bill in the mail for emergent splinter removal and band-aid application She told me she only had $8 in her piggy bank and couldn't pay the bill I asked if she had health insurance benefits through her job I showed her the application for COBRA but unfortunately she couldn't read it But after 6 months of unpaid monthly payments, we had no choice but to send her to collections
