Etymology of Yeet
etymology shitposting, but kind of true. the word "jet" (as in to launch something outward rapidly) is from the old french word "jeter" which comes from the proto-indo-european base "ye-" meaning "to throw." so anyway, the word "yeet"
A Mastodon post humorously presents a plausible etymology connecting “yeet” to the French word “jeter” and the Proto-Indo-European root “ye-,” meaning “to throw.” The punchline is the deliberately overconfident shitpost that treats a modern slang word as if its origin were obviously ancient and scholarly.
