Żabka Smoke Signal Network
In the middle ages Polish kings built a system of castles and watchtowers known as the Eagle's Nests. They were built in such a way that from every single one you could see at least one other, so that fire and smoke signals could be used to signal an invasion throughout the whole system and all the way to the capital. Modern Poland decided to replicate this system, but instead of castles used something more useful and inconspicuous - convenience stores. And since the stores are located on the ground floors of buildings, rather than on mountain peaks, a frog rather than an eagle was chosen as the name of this system. And so "Żabka" was born. That's why you can often see Żabka employees standing in front of their shops and smoking - that's not a simple cigarette break, they are actually testing the smoke signal communication between the neighbouring stores.
The post humorously claims that Żabka convenience stores are a modern Polish replacement for the medieval Eagle’s Nests castle network. Employees smoking outside their shops are jokingly portrayed as testing a chain of smoke signals between neighbouring stores. It is sent as an absurd explanation for why Żabka workers are often seen smoking outside.
