Polish Pride Facebook Comment

take great pride in their Polish heritage & customs . Not sure if you know how hard it was for Polish immigrants in this country , some changed their names , lost their accents , & tried not to be “Polish” - most & especially my family reveled in their Polish heritage & kept the traditions & customs alive here in America . I had to endure countless Pollack jokes & put downs my whole life & never wavered in my pride of being Polish . When St John Paul II was elected Pope nobody was prouder than my father . Whenever a Polish athlete or team competes on the world stage I root for them as much as I do for Americans . I teach the history of the Poles who have done remarkable things here in America & worldwide & I do it with a sense of pride knowing those are my roots , my genetics , my Slavic ethnicity . To be treated as you would a German , Russian , Check , Frenchman , or Serbian was disappointing & frankly disrespectful . My roots are from Poland , my ancestors are from Poland , I have cousins in Poland . Does that help you understand my disappointment a little?

A long Facebook comment passionately defending Polish heritage, family traditions, and ethnic pride in America. The joke is the excessive length and melodramatic seriousness of the response, especially the repeated explanation of Polish roots and the apparent typo “Check,” making it useful as an absurdly overcommitted reaction to a minor slight or misunderstanding.
