A chart shows increasingly disturbing images for each decreasing amount of sleep, from a calm smiling figure after 8 or 6 hours to grotesque and supernatural figures after only 1–5 hours. The joke exaggerates how sleep deprivation makes someone progressively more mentally and physically unwell, so it is shared as a reaction to exhaustion or staying up all night.
