Boiling Water Sous-Vide
Sous-vide is a traditional French cooking method where food is placed in sealed plastic bags in a water bath for up to 6 hours. The technique is used in many high-end gourmet restaurants.
A pan of boiling water contains sausages, with one being handled by tongs. The joke parodies upscale sous-vide cooking by presenting ordinary sausages boiled directly in a pan as an elaborate French gourmet technique. It is used as a reaction to mock pretentious cooking or unnecessarily fancy descriptions of simple food.
