KeePassXC Black Lives Matter Statement

Today we release our long-awaited major update KeePassXC 2.6.0. It comes with an entirely new set of UI themes (light and dark), comprehensive password health reports, better YubiKey integration and much more. Check out the details on our blog keepassxc.org/blog/2020-07-0... And since we were made aware of an already ongoing and lengthy discussion on 4chan about our decision to change the "master key" terminology to "database credentials": We completely support #BlackLivesMatter 👊🏿✊🏿, but none of that played a part. Interesting theory, though.

A screenshot of a Twitter thread from KeePassXC announcing a software update and then sarcastically addressing a 4chan theory that its terminology change was motivated by Black Lives Matter. The punchline is the absurd mismatch between the technical change and the unrelated political speculation, making it useful as a reaction to conspiracy theories or overinterpreted explanations.
