Minion Rush 911 Easter Egg

In 2013, the Minions became a topic fraught with controversy when it was discovered that dialing 911 with the game Minion Rush installed on your phone would play a voice clip of the siren minion from the movie instead of putting you through to an operator. This reportedly led to over 14 thousand deaths across the US before a patch was released which removed the Easter egg. - Calls to 911 Will no longer trigger a minion voice clip instead of putting the caller through to the appropriate emergency operator.

A fake social media post claims that the Minion Rush mobile game hijacked 911 calls and played a Minion voice clip instead of connecting callers to emergency services, allegedly causing thousands of deaths. The joke is the absurdly dark fake news story and the official-looking patch note that supposedly removed the Easter egg, making it useful as a reaction to obvious misinformation or ridiculous claims.
