GNOME App Platform Argument
You're targeting one theme in one desktop environment instead of writing software which works in GNOME and every other desktop environment. That is absolutely within our ability as app developers. Platforms are the base we build from and target. Think of it how you think of separate OSes - do you expect every Windows app to support macOS and Linux? Or every macOS app to support Windows? NO! That's not an expectation from them. Just because we are binary compatible does not mean a GNOME app is within the same ecosystem/platform as a KDE app or an elementaryOS app. Just as developers can choose to support one OS, we can choose to support one platform (or more if some think they can take that on)
A screenshot of an online comment arguing about desktop Linux application development. The commenter says that GNOME, KDE, and elementaryOS are different platforms despite binary compatibility, and compares choosing one desktop environment to choosing one operating system. The joke is the exaggeratedly defensive response to criticism about targeting only one desktop environment, making it useful as a reaction to platform tribalism or overly narrow software support.
