Richard's guide to software development HOW THE SOFTWARE IS DESIGNED. 4% 2% 80% 14% HOW MUCH TIME HAS TO BE SPENT ON EACH PART. HOW THE SOFTWARE LOOKS BEFORE THE BETA TEST HOW THE SOFTWARE LOOKS AFTER THE BETA TEST. HOW THE SOFTWARE IS APPLIED. WHAT THE CUSTOMER REALLY WANTED. HOW THE SOFTWARE LOOKS TWO VERSIONS LATER. I STILL LIKE YOU ANYWAY. STOOOP!
What it means

A comic shows a cat being designed with most of its development time spent on the tail, then becoming a tiger during the beta test. The customer wanted a cat, but after two versions the software has reverted to a cat-like form, prompting the absurd reassurance that it is still liked anyway. It is used as a reaction to software projects becoming overcomplicated, changing unexpectedly, or failing to match the original specification.
