Overcomplicating a Simple Condition
if (cond) { return null; } if (cond == true) { return null; } if (Boolean.toString(cond).equals("true")) { return null; } Boolean isTrue = true; String trueStr = "true"; int counter = 0; for (char i : Boolean.toString(cond).toCharArray()){ if (i != trueStr.charAt(counter)) { isTrue = false; } counter++; } if (Boolean.toString(isTrue).equals("true")) { return null; }
A four-panel programming meme shows increasingly complicated ways to check whether a condition is true, paired with increasingly serious programmers. The joke is that a simple boolean check is needlessly overengineered into character-by-character string processing, mocking excessive coding complexity and Java verbosity.
