The Guy She Tells You Not to Worry About

The meme contrasts a simple logistic regression model, shown as a smooth surface with a unique global/local optimum, with a deep neural network whose high-dimensional optimization landscape has multiple local optima. The joke uses the “the guy she tells you not to worry about” format to portray deep learning as the intimidating alternative.
