American Textbook Egyptian Pharaoh

Text on the meme

No one: American textbooks:

What it means

A brightly coloured textbook-style illustration shows an ancient Egyptian pharaoh with distinctly modern, white-American-looking facial features, wearing a blue-and-gold striped headdress in front of pyramids. The joke mocks how American school textbooks portray historical people from other cultures through a Westernized lens. It is used as a reaction to overly sanitized or inaccurate historical depictions.
