WHEN YOU CLOSE ME

What it means

A tiny kitten approaches a red bed as the caption says “WHEN YOU CLOSE ME”; the camera zooms in on the bed and cat, which is then tucked in wearing a purple nightcap before an explosion erupts from the covers. The joke treats closing the bed like putting the cat to sleep, only for the cute bedtime scene to end in absurd destruction. Gorillaz’s dreamy, wistful synth-pop song “On Melancholy Hill” makes the escalation feel oddly sentimental and funny.
