Artificial Selection Makes a Vegetable

Artificial selection I made a new Vegetable new vegetable or Brassica oleracea ? Brassica oleracea Selection for terminal buds Selection for lateral buds Selection for stem Selection for leaves Selection for stems and flowers Selection for flower clusters Cabbage Brussels sprouts Kohlrabi Kale Broccoli Cauliflower Brassica oleracea again

A four-panel comic shows a man proudly saying he made a new vegetable, while a woman asks whether it is a genuinely new vegetable or just Brassica oleracea. A chart then reveals that cabbage, Brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, kale, broccoli, and cauliflower were selectively bred from the same species. The joke is that his supposedly original creation is merely Brassica oleracea again, useful as a reaction to a redundant or unoriginal idea.
