January 2021 Got Worse
In 2020: wow I hope next year is better January 2021:
A person stands behind the Speaker’s desk in the U.S. Capitol chamber while people photograph the scene. The joke contrasts hoping 2021 will be better with the January 6 Capitol riot, implying the new year immediately became even worse. It is used as a reaction to an unfortunate start to a new year or situation.
