Starting 2021 With Your Text

Text on the meme

Happy New Year! Ew ??? I’m starting off 2021 with a text from you

What it means

A text-message exchange shows someone sending “Happy New Year!” and receiving “Ew,” followed by a confused “???” The punchline is that the recipient is so repulsed by the sender that even starting the year with their message feels unpleasant, making it a sarcastic reaction to unwanted attention.
