The video begins with a collage of Black female characters and performers captioned “Now we can finally feel represented,” then cuts to a group of men captioned “yes, that’s literally me” beside a white-haired fantasy action character striking dramatic poses. The joke is an exaggerated identification reaction: the speaker humorously claims the character’s flamboyant, powerful behavior as their own. Childish Gambino’s “Heartbeat” adds an energetic, stylish rhythm that makes the transformation and poses feel even more dramatic.
