What it means

A photograph shows an archaeologist examining an ancient floor mosaic depicting a reclining skeleton holding food and drink. The inscription says “Be cheerful, enjoy your life,” creating a humorous memento mori contrast between celebrating life and remembering death. It is used as an ironic reaction to existential situations or as encouragement to enjoy the present.
