GNOME User Gives Up
Wow, an (almost) 8 years old issue. I might stop using Gnome because this scroll speed is so annoying. If you want something to happen faster, you should contribute to the project yourself. This is incredibly rude, not everyone knows programming, let alone knows every API the very complex innards of GTK and Wayland. If the number of people asking for this accessibility feature isn’t enough for you (both 2nd and 3rd person) to work on it for nearly a decade, I don’t think Gnome is the DE for me. GNOME is not a company, and it does not work like one. Donations don’t come with accountability either, I guess. There are plenty of environments for you to choose from, so I’m sure you’ll find something that better fits your requirements. I also encourage you to contribute to the project you do find—you don’t need to contribute with code, there are plenty of other opportunities to do so.
A screenshot of a GNOME discussion about an excessively fast touchpad scroll speed and an accessibility request. When the user complains that the issue has remained unresolved for years, they are told to contribute code themselves and then told that other desktop environments are available. The joke is the dismissive open-source project response to a reasonable usability complaint.
