fake cinephile true cinephile hulu prime video Disney+ apple tv+ HBO max INTERNET ARCHIVE tubi VK plex bilibili

A two-panel comparison contrasts a “fake cinephile,” who watches mainstream streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and HBO Max, with a “true cinephile,” who uses obscure or free platforms such as the Internet Archive, VK, VLC, Plex, and Bilibili. It is shared as a humorous reaction to gatekeeping, pretentious movie taste, or someone claiming to be a serious film fan.
