Gods Are All Terrible
Cory Barlog on the gods in the afterlife in 'God of War: Laufey' 🎮 "They're all assholes. Literally every god that exists in all of the mythologies has this really terrible relationship with power and how they abuse all of it" "When you put all those people – like a bunch of billionaires on an island – they think they're gonna have a happy life. No, they're all going to fight each other, they're all going to be in this strange sense of conflict because they're locked in a prison"
A screenshot of a social media post quotes Cory Barlog discussing gods in the afterlife and compares them to billionaires trapped together on an island. The joke is that powerful gods across mythologies are portrayed as abusive, dysfunctional assholes who would inevitably fight if forced to live together, making the quote a reaction to the idea of divine power and immortality.
