Meowl Is Probably Not Real

Text on the meme

Is meowl even real? Prolly not. Haha right? *rustle* Er... what is that? Huh??? We live in cities You'll never see on screen Not very pretty but we sure know how to run things.

What it means

Two cartoon girls walk down a city sidewalk while strange cats peek from behind trees and gradually emerge. One girl doubts whether “meowl” is real, but the cats reveal themselves as an unsettling urban group that says, “We live in cities / You'll never see on screen / Not very pretty but we sure know how to run things.” The absurd visual escalation is set to Lorde’s moody electropop song “Team,” whose cool, atmospheric mood makes the bizarre cat reveal feel oddly dramatic and conspiratorial.
