Clippy Finds Where It Went Wrong

It looks like the internet is being destroyed by corporate greed. Would you like me to locate where it all went wrong? Yes No

A distorted retro animation shows Clippy, the Microsoft Office paperclip assistant, repeatedly collapsing onto a sheet of paper beneath a pop-up asking whether he should locate where the internet went wrong. The joke is that corporate greed has ruined the internet so thoroughly that even the helpful assistant breaks down; King Krule’s “When Vanishing” plays underneath, adding a gloomy, melancholic saxophone-led mood that makes the collapse feel dramatically tragic. It works as a reaction to internet decay, enshittification, or helpless frustration with modern online platforms.
