FFmpeg Patch Argument
You would never manage to submit a patch even close to replacing FFmpeg in VLC. You clearly have no idea how much of my history was in ffmpeg. I built a ton of early twitch infra on top of y'all. I’m not talking out of my ass. I’m complaining that a valuable piece of software can’t even play a fucking video recorded on an iPhone because “v4 soon” Let us know where your FFmpeg patches are. There's a difference between being a "user of FFmpeg" and "developer of FFmpeg". The latter gives you the right to hot takes like "The built in ones are awful". That's because you have the actual skills to write replacements.
A dark-mode screenshot of a fictionalized Twitter/X exchange between FFmpeg and Theo, featuring a heated argument about submitting patches, FFmpeg’s history, VLC, and missing iPhone video support. The punchline is the developer’s gatekeeping response: criticism is only considered valid if the critic has the skills to write replacement software, parodying hostile open-source maintainer discourse. It is shared as a reaction to arguments about contributing to open-source projects, technical expertise, and entitled users.
