4chan Announcement for users from the United Kingdom and from the United Kingdom Overseas Territories Hello to our British users from the UK and British Overseas Territories! Starting July 25th, 2025, in accordance with the United Kingdom’s new Online Safety Act 2023, 4chan(dot)org will immediately block and cease all access to all its content for visitors from the UK and British Overseas Territories. This UK law requires extensive monitoring and verification of filters of our platform for its internet subjects, of which our small dedicated team is neither equipped nor capable to comply effectively & accordingly with HM national security intelligence establishment. We do not want to compromise our users’ privacy, liberty from consequences, and freedom of expression to meet these everflowing demands. After a difficult, yet considerate, interest of both UK users and UK national concerns, it has been decided that UK.ISPs & domains will no longer be able to view nor engage with any content on the site or its functions, on July 25th, 2025, at midnight GMT. We want to thank our UK regulars for their participation throughout the years on this site, during both good and bad times. With heavy heart, it is such an important moment to part ways, for both your nation's security considerations and the presence of visitors from other countries. The aforementioned decision will affect ONLY visitors & regulars from the UK and its British Overseas Territories. Have a nice day! Home News Blog FAQ Rules Support 4chan Advertise Press 日本語
What it means

A fake 4chan announcement claims that users from the United Kingdom and British Overseas Territories will be blocked because of the Online Safety Act. The overly formal, bureaucratic wording parodies an official shutdown notice and turns the uploader’s “it’s so over for britbongs” joke into an exaggerated reaction to UK internet regulation.
