Homophobic Apples and Peanut Butter

Text on the meme

I wish apples weren’t Homophobic...

What it means

A hand repeatedly pushes apple slices into a mound of peanut butter on a plate while the caption says, “I wish apples weren’t Homophobic...” The joke treats the apples’ refusal to touch peanut butter as homophobia, using an absurd anthropomorphic reaction to make a mildly edgy pun. Weezer and Best Coast’s upbeat indie-pop/alternative-rock song “Go Away” plays over the clip, reinforcing the idea that the apples are trying to avoid the peanut butter.
