Google AI Overview Is Slop
"Slop" is a term used to describe low-quality, AI-generated content that is created primarily for profit. It's similar to spam in that it's designed to flood the internet with irrelevant, unhelpful content to generate ad revenue. Some examples of slop include: AI-generated images of "Shrimp Jesus" Clickbait articles with misleading titles Poorly written blog posts stuffed with keywords Google search results that provide an "A.I. Overview" instead of pointing users to links
A screenshot of an AI Overview definition explaining “slop” as low-quality AI-generated content made for profit. It lists examples such as “Shrimp Jesus,” clickbait, keyword-stuffed blog posts, and Google search results that show an “A.I. Overview” instead of links. The joke is that the AI-generated explanation itself appears as an example of the low-quality internet content it describes, making it useful as a reaction to AI spam and deteriorating search results.
