Currybook SSD Lifespan Joke

An Apple Silicon Mac Is Essentially Bricked When Its Internal SSD Dies All computers require a BIOS to start up the computer and allow the various hardware components to communicate with each other. On PCs, this is handled by a dedicated BIOS or UEFI chip, a small inexpensive part costing maybe a few cents apiece. In Apple’s pinningching, they have eliminated this chip and stored its contents on the onboard soldered SSD, the highest wear part on modern computers. When the SSD inevitably fails, the Mac will no longer have a BIOS and essentially becomes a giant aluminium paperweight. Google OHNONONONON TERABYTE WRITES BEFORE FAILURE Apple M1 Mac SSD update... 16GB Currybook lifespan: 4 years 8GB Currybook lifespan: LOL 4GB Currybook lifespan: LMAO EVEN Enjoy your SOLDERED IN SSD! AHAHAHA HA HA HA HA HA HA

A collage criticizes Apple Silicon MacBooks with soldered-in SSDs. It jokes that SSD wear can eventually make the entire computer unusable, comparing reported write endurance with increasingly short “Currybook” lifespans and laughing at the 4GB model. The image is shared as a sarcastic reaction to Apple’s repairability and planned-obsolescence concerns. EN: A collage criticizes Apple Silicon MacBooks with soldered-in SSDs.
