Sony Deletes Concord From Account

While its fun to laugh at Sony trying to retroactively unmake Concord, please do not be distracted from the fact the corpos can, and will, delete games from your console without your knowledge or consent. Your digital library is one click away from 0. I’ve never seen this before: Sony has removed my review copy of Concord from my account. From PlayStation 10/9/2024 Concord Thank you for being a valued PlayStation customer. Live services for Concord went offline 6/9/24. The game is not playable and as a result, we have removed this content from your account. Close

A social media post warns that Sony can remotely remove digitally owned games, illustrated by a PlayStation notification saying that Concord was removed from the user’s account after its live services went offline. The joke is darkly ironic: while people mock Sony for trying to erase Concord, the post points out that digital libraries can disappear without the owner’s consent. It is used as a reaction to digital ownership concerns, game shutdowns, and corporate control over purchased media.
