ER Girlfriend Age Insult
I work in the ER and whenever I see dudes come in with their early 20s girlfriends I always make it a point to say; "Is this your Mom here with you?" The girls obviously are shaken to their core immediately but it's not so out of pocket that it seems like an insult. It just seems like I'm genuinely trying to figure out who's here with the patient. They just know I called them old and I watch them contemplate to themselves if they look ugly and hag-like. I also ask single Moms with their mixed race kids if they; "Want me to add Dad as an emergency contact?" Their faces always sink and they look away as they tell me no in embarrassment.
A fictional ER worker describes teasing young women who arrive with older men by asking whether they are the man's mother, and teasing single mothers by offering to add Dad as an emergency contact. The joke is deliberately cruel, exploiting insecurity about age, appearance, and absent fathers as an outrageous reaction story.
