Ransomware Comment Escalation
We did it 🚩🚩 Hi there, OP here. I did download the file and try running it on my VM but I may have forgotten to delete the file from the host and somehow it autoran or something and now even my physical machine is compromised. The file contained a ransomware that encrypted almost all of my data, even my chrome saved passwords got cooked, so I am unable to even access my main reddit account, having to provide an update using my alt on phone. Hello, this is AIsoftweltech. I currently have access to your Reddit, Steam, Epic Games, Ubisoft Connect, EA Play, Microsoft, Xbox, YouTube, and TikTok accounts. Additionally, I possess your email address (d*******67@gmail.com) and details of two of your cards ending in 1860 and 3556. You have until 22:00 on 08/28/2024 to contact me between 8:00 and 22:00 to discuss the ransom amount or propose an alternative arrangement. If you fail to do so, your data will be sold. Consider this your final warning. Have a nice day.
A Reddit screenshot shows a user admitting that a downloaded file infected both their virtual machine and physical computer with ransomware. A follow-up message claims control of the user's accounts and demands contact about a ransom, creating an absurd escalation from a gaming download mishap to an obviously theatrical cybercrime threat. It is shared as a reaction to overconfident hacking, malware jokes, and situations that spiral out of control.
