Compiler Deletes Source File
Error in compile deletes the sourcefile If I try to compile a source file (any .hs file) and the compiler returns an error (any error), the source file gets deleted. The compiler however, returns me to the "Prelude>" cursor and still accepts commands To recompile, I have to save the file again from my editor. When the compilation is successful, the sourcefile is still there. I'm using the latest GHC 6.0 on a WinXP sp 1 machine. best regards Jon Malmquist dj1m@efdth.se
A screenshot of an old GHC issue report describes a compiler error that deletes the source file while leaving the user at the Prelude prompt. The joke is the absurdly destructive behavior of the compiler and the frustration of having to recreate the file after every failed compilation. It is used as a reaction to buggy software, catastrophic programming errors, or tools that make failures much worse.
