The Impossible Compression Challenge
everyone is misunderstanding the point of this contest which is to convince elon that something is actually impossible Neuralink started a compression challenge. They're asking for people to find methods to losslessly (!!) compress files to 1/200th (!) the size but the files are extremely noisy so thats certainly not possible 😬 (spectrogram of one randomly chosen file for illustration) challenge Linear Spectrogram Time
A screenshot shows a post explaining that Neuralink is asking people to losslessly compress extremely noisy electrode recordings to one two-hundredth of their original size. The joke is that the challenge is supposedly designed to convince Elon that the task is mathematically impossible, while the attached spectrogram illustrates the absurdly noisy data. It is used as a reaction to impossible demands or challenges that seem intentionally unreasonable.
