Hiring Manager Rejects Indian Resumes
As a hiring manager, I am becoming more racist This is a throwaway account of course, because if I ever admit this on LinkedIn, my career is over Between what's happening in Canada overall with the tsunami of "fake student" immigration, government refusal to do anything useful other than actively making things worse, AND ultimately, as a hiring manager (15 years of experience, past 5 as hiring manager) - I am sad to admit I am becoming more and more racist every day Racist mostly directed to Indian (India) If you ever been on the side of reviewing resumes - you will know what I meant by resume of a very specific layout / formatting ... they all practically look identical (2-3 format variations) with the only change is the name - they ALL come from recent arrival from India. I am at a point where I will auto reject applicants within LESS than a second if I see that resume format (in fact, I am already 80% rejecting the moment I see their name now! which is really shameful of me, so I am trying to at least open the resume and then - yep - it's that format resume, so will reject) I will auto reject applicants, who: • has a bachelor degree from India • has some work experience in India • Came to Canada in the last few years and go to colleges (Lambton, Conestoga, Centennial, etc etc) or even doing Masters in places like University of Windsor This people will also apply to the same role over and over again, within a day or a few days of rejection. I am just tired but professionally (this create SO MUCH noise in my resume reviews) and what I am seeing around me in day-to-day living and this is coming from immigrant myself who went to a reputable university to do my undergrad, got my first job on PGWP, become PR, and now citizen - but what these people are doing are NOT that ... yes technically, not their fault because the system allow them to - but f that, and f these people exploiting the system)
A screenshot of a Reddit post shows a hiring manager describing increasingly racist and discriminatory rejection of Indian applicants based on their names, education, work history, and resume formatting. The post presents prejudice and frustration as a reaction to perceived immigration and hiring-system abuse, making the humor dark, uncomfortable, and ironic rather than lighthearted.
