Please Keep iOS Closed

To: Tim Cook From: iPhone User Subject: Keep Apple's iOS closed please Date: January 27, 2024 If I wanted an open-source operating system like Google or Samsung I would have bought them. The main—and I can’t say this loud enough, main—reason I buy and have an Apple phone is because you are a closed iOS and the iOS is more secure than Android. But if you are going to open the gates and no longer be as safe, then I might as well switch over. Please keep iOS closed, please.

A mock email from an iPhone user to Tim Cook begs Apple to keep iOS closed. The joke is a sarcastic reversal of the usual criticism that Apple’s closed ecosystem is restrictive: the user claims the closed system and security are exactly why they buy an iPhone, and threatens to switch if Apple opens it up. It works as a reaction to platform changes, sideloading debates, or complaints about Apple’s ecosystem. EN: A mock email from an iPhone user to Tim Cook begs Apple to keep iOS closed.
