Windows Fails the Linux Desktop Test
"Between VSCode, WSL, and Intel’s latest desktop chips, I’ve been living with a PC that runs my programming tests faster than an M3 Max, and generally feels like a completely viable alternative to macOS." VSCode + WSL makes Windows awesome for web... Why not shift to a full Linux desktop? Gave up on that after spending hours trying to get Electron apps not to render blurry text with Ubuntu/Wayland. If I couldn't fix something that simple quickly, I was never going to have the patience for the rest of the journey. Even if I love the ethos.
A screenshot of a social media thread about using Windows with VSCode, WSL, and Intel hardware as an alternative to macOS. When someone suggests switching to Linux, the author explains that Ubuntu and Wayland caused blurry Electron text, making the setup frustrating enough to abandon despite liking Linux’s philosophy. It is used as a reaction to Linux desktop frustrations and the gap between ideals and practical usability.
