Video Games Are Slow Database Operations

Text on the meme

at some point during my second time playing WoW (while I was studying for app academy lol) the scales fell from my eyes and I saw it for what it was: a CRUD app with a really fancy UI video games are so dumb. you think you're killing zombies but actually you're like. dramatically deleting rows in a really slow database

What it means

A screenshot of two posts jokes that playing World of Warcraft is essentially using a CRUD application with a fancy user interface. Killing zombies is reframed as dramatically deleting database rows, making fun of how video games can be reduced to mundane programming concepts. It is used as a humorous reaction by programmers who see everyday activities as software abstractions.
