Man Loses His Virtual Wife

Text on the meme

The man who married a hologram in Japan can no longer communicate with his virtual wife The software that allowed the interaction is no longer supported and the man can no longer interact with the hologram with which he had a relationship for years

What it means

A man sits silently in a futuristic car, looking increasingly devastated after learning that the software supporting his hologram wife is no longer available. The clip uses Ryan Gosling’s mournful reaction from Blade Runner 2049, while the melancholic synthwave track “Resonance” by Home makes the absurd story feel genuinely tragic. It works as a reaction meme for losing access to a beloved digital service, virtual companion, or discontinued technology.
