Who Is Mark Reading My Messages

Text on the meme

Privacy concern: Who is "Mark"? Hello! I love the signal app, I use it daily! But recently I've been seeing something weird in the Android app. Everytime I receive a message from my friend it says "Mark read"? I don't know anyone named Mark. How is he reading my messages?? Thank you.

What it means

A Reddit user misunderstands the Signal status “Mark read” as the name of a person named Mark who is somehow reading their messages. The joke comes from confusing the verb phrase “mark read” with a mysterious intruder. People send this as a reaction to a funny literal misunderstanding or an obvious tech misconception.
