Rocket Jumping in Hamlet
Outside video games Rocket jumping has appeared in other media as well. In William Shakespeare's play Hamlet, a reference is made to being hoisted with his own petard, or being lifted by the explosion of one's own bomb.
A screenshot explains that rocket jumping, usually associated with video games, also appears in Shakespeare's Hamlet through the phrase “hoisted with his own petard.” The joke is the absurd comparison between a modern gaming mechanic and Hamlet's archaic description of being launched by one's own explosive device, making it suitable as a reaction to an unexpectedly old version of a familiar concept.
