Toilet Paper Ad Before Use
Outrage as new ‘Black Mirror’ public restrooms won’t let you have toilet paper unless you watch 30-second ad first
A public restroom toilet-paper dispenser displays a QR code and appears to require watching a 30-second advertisement before dispensing paper. The joke compares this absurd, invasive monetization of a basic necessity to the dystopian technology and social satire of the series Black Mirror. It is used as a reaction to ridiculous ads, exploitative services, and dystopian everyday technology.
