Sony Pictures Animation announces 'Meme Movie' slated for 2020 Critics have lambasted the new animated film as "soulless" and "idiotic" REMEMBER WHAT THEY TOOK FROM YOU INDEPENDENT Contribute Subscribe Culture > Film There isn't going to be a Meme Movie

What it means

A fake news article announces a planned Sony animated film about memes, then reveals that there will not actually be a Meme Movie. The joke uses dramatic “REMEMBER WHAT THEY TOOK FROM YOU” framing and images of classic rage-comic faces to mock nostalgia for old internet memes and the idea that mainstream media has stolen or commercialized them. It is sent as an absurd reaction to the loss of internet culture or a cancelled nostalgic project.
