Pasta Portrait Cookies

THE ARTISTRY

A baker presses smiling face designs into yellow dough, cuts them out, arranges the finished portrait-shaped cookies in a pink bowl, and holds one up for the camera. The unexpectedly cheerful faces make the ordinary baking process feel surreal and funny, while Panchiko’s melancholic alternative rock song “D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L” gives the clip an oddly dramatic, bittersweet mood. It works as a reaction to turning something mundane into an unsettlingly elaborate artistic masterpiece.
