A Sailor's Life Onboard

Text on the meme

sailor's life onboard

What it means

A fast-paced montage shows the chaotic reality of life aboard a ship: a sailor tossing in bed, cramped onboard living spaces, crew members cleaning and struggling to keep their balance, huge waves hitting the vessel, and sailors being thrown around on the bridge. The joke is the contrast between the cheerful sea-shanty performance of Home Free’s “Sea Shanty Medley” and the exhausting, dangerous, absurdly unstable life depicted in the clips, making it a reaction to rough work or an unexpectedly chaotic situation.
