Hello Triangle API Comparison
OpenGL 1.x OpenGL 3+ Vulkan DX9 DX11 DX12 "Hello Triangle" - GL1 uses SDL, - GL3+ and Vulkan use GLFW. Admittedly the Vulkan version has more comments and the DX versions could do more error checking.
A collage compares the code needed to render a basic “Hello Triangle” example in OpenGL 1.x, OpenGL 3+, Vulkan, and DirectX 9/11/12. The joke is that modern graphics APIs require dramatically more boilerplate, comments, and error checking for the same simple triangle, while OpenGL 1.x is comparatively short.
