ChatGPT Programmer Efficiency Rant
whenever I see some hackernews "programmer" say shit like "chatGPT has made me 1000x more efficient as a programmer" it just makes me think... were you doing literally nothing before? I've tried putting a *lot* of code tasks I've had into chatGPT. There's like 2 cases where it produces workable code. 1. simple python scripts to rename files and stuff 2. you give it an exact step by step description of the code you want It cannot handle anything else
A dark-mode Twitter thread shows Tyler Glaiel criticizing programmers who claim ChatGPT made them 1000 times more efficient. He jokes that such people must have been doing nothing before, then argues that ChatGPT only reliably produces workable code for simple file-renaming scripts or when given an exact step-by-step specification. The meme is used as a sarcastic reaction to exaggerated claims about AI coding tools.
